Should you have to pass a drug test to qualify for welfare?
Well? Should you?

i would say yes normally but what would a city with people on drugs who received welfare look like, I assume homelessness and poverty would sky rocket.
I think people should have to pass a drug test to 'continue' receiving benefits that way there's some extreme pressure to quit.
Unfortunately I'm sure millions of welfare dollars a year are spent on drugs -_-

What about Welfare recipients who have families to support though danny? Someone can't find a job, can't kick their heroin addiction, and on top of all that can't support their family. I like Joes direction on this one. You apply for welfare and fail a required drug test. If you come back in a month or two and fail another drug test maybe then you should be cut off. Only problem with that is the fact that quitting drugs is easier said then done. Especially in the case of my heroin addicted father. Even that could be solved by the state by offering rehab. Only problem with rehab would be that they aren't out there searching for a job. Very complicated question.

Nigga if they have a family then the gov't can take care of them. for example.
if they have kids they take them away.
As they did to me when my Parents were both druggies.
or if its a wife and kids.
well
and the wife passes the test then fine more power to her, even tho there is a strong chance that the drug user will still get the money for the drugs, but atleast she was clean.
and the wife is a fool for sticking around anyway.
but my point is. If they failed a drug test why give them more money to support that addiction?
I have no mercy for drug addicted fools.

I'm going to respond to Danny and I mean everything I say in the nicest way possible
But this is all my opinion
Anyways Taking a child away from there family should be the final effort used by the government to maintain acceptable living standards. I think they should try as many options as possible before reconstructing the life of a child and must investigate safe, unsafe and unhealthy conditions before taking actions as they did in the case with your mother and father.
Also in response to "If they failed a drug test why give them more money to support that addiction?"
I agree, but I have to at least speak for the other side by saying failing to provide for those people in my opinion would likely result in escalated more frequent and intense crime but in the long haul likely be what we need as people slowly turn to quitting. But I totally support the "tough love" that approach Danny seems to.
and finally
There are multiple services social security provides that people in need have access to, including but not limited to:
Rental assistance - which is payed directly to the property owner when needed.
SSI - Used for people with disabilities etc, in the form of an alternate income when none is available
Food Stamps and ebt - Which is only accepted and transferable to retailers for food.
the list goes on.
Bottom line Welfare is a service most designed to help "humanize" the lives of the needy for social and emotional purposes. It's more of a freedom based service, but I feel strongly that those receiving benefits should be closely evaluated as much as necessary to secure the use of the tax payers money.
